Abstract

Alarm systems used in health services are mechanisms that give warning by audible and visual methods about possible problems related to the condition of the patient and in dangerous situations. Alarm systems are being used in intensive care units to detect sudden changes in the

patient’s condition and to perform appropriate interventions. Although the alarm systems are often used with patient safety purposes, they also bring with them problems due to lack of knowledge and management. In this article, concepts related to alarm systems/definitions, alarm

systems and relation to patient safety, alarm management interventions have been discussed.
