Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this study is to determine the sources of stress for employees in the factory and their manners to cope with stress.

METHODS

202 persons working in a factory have participated in this research. The Stress Source Scale and Manners of Coping with Stress and Assessment were used as tools to collect data. Complementary statistical analysis (mean, standard deviation, median, percentile), Student-t test, Mann-Whitney-U, ANOVA test, Kruskal Wallis and Tukey test were used for analysis of the data collected. P<0.05 was accepted as confidence interval for the study.

RESULTS

According to the findings of the study; significant differences were observed when the sources of stress were compared with age, level of education, marital status and having children (p<0.05). It had been determined in the study that the most commonly used manner to cope with stress had been “positive reinterpretation and development”. Significant differences were observed between methods of coping with stress and gender, marital status, level of education, department worked and age.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

It has been determined the possibility to develop an illness in sub-dimensions of all sources of stress in the factory and the sub-dimension of the highest source of stress possibility to develop an illness observed had been work stress (%61,9). It had been determined in the study that the most commonly used manner to cope with stress had been “positive reinterpretation and development.
