Abstract

Objectives: This research aims to determine the attitudes of nursing students to health education news with COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted between May-June 2020 on students studying at the health sciences faculty in a university. “A Personal Information Form”, “Attitude Scale Toward Health Education News Delivered by Mass Media” was used in collecting data. Descriptive statistics (ratio, frequancy, mean±SD), t test, one way Anova, also Tukey Test and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient detecting the source of the difference were applied in data analysis.

Results: It was determined that 51.0% of the students felt to be well physically, 44.7% are psychologically bad due to news published during the pandemic process. It is determined that students who feel bad physically and have chronic diseases find the Covid-19 News more realistic. The points that the students got from the overcoming with “Attitude Scale Toward Health Education News Delivered by Mass Media” sub dimension point average of reality 2.84±0.78; sub dimension point average of importance 2.11±0.58; sub dimension point average of general attitude 2.50±0.54 was found as.

Conclusion: It was viewed that nursing students find the COVID-19 health education news medium level realistic and low importance, also have negative general attitudes toward news published.
