Abstract
Aim: This research was conducted to evaluate the relationship between health literacy and health service use and healthy lifestyle behaviors in factory workers.
Method: The sample of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 180 factory employees of six factories in the Antakya district of Hatay province. The data were collected with the “Descriptive Questionnaire”, “Turkey Health Literacy Scale” and “Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours Scale-II (HLBS-II)”. Mann-whitney u test, spearman correlation analysis and kruskal-wallis test were used in the analysis of the data.
Results: In the study, the mean age of the employees was 35.88 ± 7.68, 87.8% were male, 74.4% were married. In the study, a positive and weak relationship was found between “T-HLS-32” and “HLBS-II total”, “physical activity”, “nutrition” and “interpersonal relations” subscales.
Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that there was a relationship between health literacy and healthy lifestyle behaviors and emergency room use.
