Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this study is to define socio-demographic characteristics of patients who are users and addicts of cannabinoids known as Bonsai or Jameika in our country.

METHODS

This descriptive study has been taken place in Sisli Hamidiye Etfal Education and Researh Hospital between the dates of 01.02.2015 – 30.04.2015. 136 bonsai users and addicts who reside in various boroughs of Istanbul or in different cities have been evaluated. For the data collection, “Intoxication Declaration Form” and “Panates Program” which is used to record patient information to hospital database have been retrospectively used.

RESULTS

We found that most of bonsai users and addicts included to the study were residing in Sisli borough. %69.1 of the users and addicts (94 people) were male. They were mostly between the ages 25-39 (%42,6) and %34.6 of them were primary school graduated.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

Bonsai use is more common in male gender. Most of the users are young adults and their education level is low.
