Abstract

Evaluatıon Of Sexualıty In Healthcare Professionals

Objective: Sexuality is one of the most important parts of human life. It is both the most curious and the least talked about. Healthy sexual relations include intimacy of sexual instincts in addition to affinity and love within the relationship. Sexual satisfaction is one of the determinants of healthy sexuality. An important cause of sexual problems in our society is the inadequacy of education in sexual matters, inaccurate or inadequate sources of information and false beliefs about sexuality. The purpose of this study, in which most of the nurses are formed, is to determine the status of sexual satisfaction, which is an important dimension of sexuality in health workers who provide counseling to the public. Method: The study was conducted as cross-sectional and descriptive. The study was conducted in April-May 2014 in an Education and Research Hospital within the borders of Istanbul. The study population consisted of all health personnel who volunteered to participate in the study at the Training and Research Hospital. A total of 203 people (82 males, 121 females) who agreed to participate in the study from 571 were the sample of this study. As the data collection tool, the Information Form, prepared by the researcher and consisting of 15 questions, and Glombok Sexual Satisfaction Scale were used. Results: As a result of the analyzes; avoidance in males 13.45 + 2.02 and premature ejaculation 9.50 + 2.05 sub-dimensions are at the top; anorgasmia 6.81 + 1.91 and vaginismus 5.46 + 3.29 sub-dimensions were the highest in women. Cronbach alpha values were 0.66 in female form and 0.68 in male form. Conclusion: It is the most important result of this study that health workers who are consulted by the public about sexuality need a more qualified education related to sexuality.
