Abstract

Objective: This research was conducted to determine the attitudes of the students from the Faculty of Health Sciences towards organ transplantation and donation.

Method: This descriptive study was carried out with the students of Faculty of Health Sciences. The study sample consisted of 419 students. "Personal Information Form" and "Students' Attitudes Towards Organ Transplantation and Donation Form" were used to evaluate the students.

Results: It was determined that 50.1% of the students were between 21- 23 and 69.5% were women. It was determined that 95.2% of the students had organ donation and 71.1% thought of making organ donation. The students' attitudes about organ transplantation and donation were found to be statistically significant between the 1st and 4th graders (p = 0.010).There was no significant difference in scale scores on the basis of schools (p = 0.667).

Conclusion: The results of the study showed that there is a significant difference between 1st and 4th graders about organ transplantation and donation, but it still shows that students should be supported with more comprehensive trainings. In this context, it is recommended that training programs of nurses should be restructured.
