Abstract

Objective: The research was conducted as a descriptive study in order to evaluate the internet usage of pregnant women about pregnancy related issues.

Method: The sample of the study consisted of 433 pregnant women who applied to gynecology outpatient clinics of a public hospital between December 2018 -February 2019. The data of the study was collected with a data collection form consisting of questions about the socio-demographic characteristics of pregnant women and internet usage in pregnancy related subjects. The obtained data were analyzed using number, percentage and chi-square test.

Results: The mean age of the pregnant women was 28.0 ± 5.6, 72.5% of pregnant women used internet for pregnancy related subjects, 64.3% of them pregnancy symptoms, 59.2% suggestions for problems that occurred during pregnancy, 58.5% to investigate changes in pregnancy It was determined that they use. It was found that 31.2% of the pregnant women shared their internet information with health personnel. There was a significant relationship between education and economic status of pregnant women and internet use during pregnancy (p = 0.00).

Conclusion: In our study, it was determined that more than half of pregnant women use internet for pregnancy related issues and most of them trust this information.
