Abstract
The burden of disease related to mental disorders in children and adolescents is great. 10-20% of children and adolescents are exposed to mental illness and only 25% have been received professional help. The mental disorders that may be seen during this period have interfered with normal psychological development and prevented child and adolescent from reaching their ideal functioning.The development of mental health and the prevention of mental disorders among children and adolescent being aware of the fact that childhood is a special developmental stage and will be affected by environmental factors is special issue. When preventive measures are planned in child and adolescent mental health, the stage of development of the child, the degree of vulnerability to mental disorders, how the disorder is expressed must be considered. Therefore, a developmental perspective is needed to understand mental disorders and to identify preventive measures. Preventive measures in child and adolescent mental health are included in the literature as screening programs, home visits, parental education, and school-based programs. The purpose of this literature review is to examine preventive interventions and effectiveness of these interventions for children and adolescent mental health.
