Abstract

Orthopedic traumas can cause various problems ranging from simple injuries to long-term severe and physical disabilities; physical, psychological and social problems as well as serious economic burden. Orthopedic traumas, among the primary causes of inadequacies in individuals, constitute about 66% of all injuries [1]. The most common orthopedic traumas are soft tissue-joint injuries and fractures. The resuscitation phase of pre-hospital and emergency service assessment of trauma care is a period of severe physiological stress for the patient. Primary therapeutic targets during this time are; maintaining airway widening, providing adequate oxygenation and ventilation, supporting circulation, and evaluating neurological functions [2,3]. In this review, orthopedic trauma seen in emergency departments and nursing care for this were discussed.
