Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The identification of practices in fetal health conservation and improvement would be of great help to health personnel in planning the care of pregnant women. The aim of the present study is to identify the practices to conserve and improve the fetal health in pregnant women attending to pregnancy policlinics.
METHODS
The study was descriptive and cross-sectional. The sample was 296 pregnant women who attended at the pregnancy policlinics of these hospitals between March–May 2014 and accepted to take part in the study. The data was collected with survey form.
RESULTS
The age means of pregnant women were 28±5.32, the educational status of 59% was ≥ 9 years, 92% was unemployed, 57% had income equal to expenditure, 88% was at third trimester. 94% of pregnant women was dressed convenient for pregnancy, 70% was eating 3 main meal and 3 snacks, 22% was doing physical exercise, 89% was using folic acid, 93% used iron preparation, 89% used vitamins, 80% had tetanus vaccination.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
Pregnancies after the age of 35 should be lessened, educations should be provided so as to lessen the births in less than two year intervals, the percentage of exercise in pregnant women should be improved, counselling should be carried out to prevent unintended pregnancies and the significance of preconceptional examination and preconceptional counseling should be emphasised.
