Abstract
Aim: This study was aimed to determine risk factors and women counselling needs before conception
Methods: A survey study was performed using consecutive patients presenting to gynecology polyclinic for an any cause. The survey was conducted to volunteer women. In this survey the questions are about their socio-demographic information such as birth place, educational status, economic conditions; their obstetric background like the number and mode of birth, number of the abortion; in addition to the data related to general medical background like chronice desease, the questions are also about the data of counselling service before conception. Blood samples were taken after the surveys were completed.
Results: A total of 446 women completed the survey. %79,6 women are in need of the counselling service. Most of these women claim this counselling before concepiton (%81,6). The counselling is especially expected from obstetricians (%45,7). The most counselling expected situations are about risk factors, nutrition, working conditions, medicine and vaccinations.
Conclusion: Preconceptional care is a vital step for optimal maternal and neonatal wellbeing. Most of the women need such a service whithin this context. In addition to the this because of the prevalence of the risk factors that may cause bad conception results preconceptional counselling and care is an important title in women’s health.
