Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to compare the levels of separation intentions of first and fourth grade nursing students.
Method: The study was conducted as a cross-sectional and descriptive study between February and March 2014 with students studying in the first and fourth grade of the nursing department at a state university in Istanbul. The survey was completed with 209 students who agreed to participate in the survey on the date of the study without going to the sampling selection. The data were collected from the questionnaire prepared in the direction of the literature and Diriöz et al. (2010) with the Adequacy Separation Anxiety Questionnaire. Data from the study, descriptive analyzes were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests after the Kolmogorov Smirnov test.
Results: Compared to the class of nursing students and the class of separation anxiety, the first grade students had a statistically significant higher score than the 4th grade students (p <0.01); (P <0.05), when the separation anxiety scores of the students were compared because of the preference of the nursing department, the students who preferred with job guarantee had a statistically significant higher score than the ones who preferred with their own preference. (P <0.01), the dissatisfaction anxiety scores of the dissatisfied people were found to be statistically significantly higher than those of the dissatisfied ones.
Conclusion: When the nursing students started to read the new study, they were found to have higher levels of separation anxiety scores than those who chose the department with the job guarantee and were not satisfied with the selected department.
