Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the views of nursing students about the use of simulation in education.
Methods: The sample of the descriptive study consisted of 308 students who were educated in the nursing faculty of a private university and accepted to participate in the research. The data were obtained through a data collection form consisting of questions containing students’ introductory information and their views on simulation applications. Data were analyzed with
Results: 84.4% of nursing students stated that simulation applications are very useful, almost all (89%) of them should be combined with theoretical knowledge and simulation use, 47.1% of the subject was more interesting to demonstrate on the model. While students thought that clinical practice was more useful in learning skills (81.8%), simulation practices contributed to their professional skills and clinical decision-making skills, and increased their confidence, while reducing their anxiety.
Conclusion: It is recommended that schools providing nursing education to perform simulation applications with appropriate technology and to give more time in curricula. Such training changes will help graduate more equipped healthcare professionals, ensure patient safety, and improve the quality of care.
