Abstract

Aim: A descriptive cross-sectional study designed to identify entrepreneurial characteristics and the factors affecting entrepreneurship the level of nursing students.

Materials and Methods: This study was carried out by 251 (50%) volunteers from the Health Sciences Faculty of a state university, 2017-2018 academic year 2nd, 3rd and 4th class nursing departments. As a data collecting tool, the literature was searched by the researcher and a personal information form consisting of 14 items was used and the University Student Entrepreneurship Scale was used by Yilmaz and Sünbül in 2009, which consist of 36 items and validity and reliability in Turkish. Data were analyzed with the SPSS 16.0 program.

Results: The average age of 251 students voluntarily participating in the survey was 21.06 ± 1.80. 82.1% were female and 17.9% were male. 31.1% of the income level is between 1000-2000TL, 71% of the families are not self-employed, 59.4% are not their own business idea, 76.1% of them did not have entrepreneurship activity before. In our study, the Cronbach's alpha for the Entrepreneurship Scale of University Students was 0.95 and was considered reliable for our sample. The minimum total score of the nursing students' entrepreneurship scale was 47, the maximum total score was 178, and the average was 127.36. It was observed that the average entrepreneurship scores of the students were in the high entrepreneurial range.

Conclusion: Based on the effect of gender and other factors on the entrepreneurship perception of nursing students, the following is summary of the work:

• The comparing the entrepreneurial intention of female and male students is different. The tendency of male students are higher than female students, in another words, male students are more entrepreneurial tendency than female,
