Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of psychodrama on post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depressive symptom frequency on the individual who had previously been exposed 25 to a long-term terror event during 9-months follow-up period.

Methods: The study has been realized both in qualitative and quantitative settings.(Pre-test and post-test semi-experimental)

Results: It has been determined that individuals experienced avoidance, group absenteeism,social isolation,insecurity-the need to create a safe area,feelings of abandonment,loss, mourning,despair, guiltiness, hope, tendency to violence, feeling of death, economic problems, unemployment, fear, desire due to social trauma and brought to the psychodrama group. It has been determined a decrease at a significant level in the depressive symptoms(p=0,005) of the participants pre and post psychodrama but there is no significant difference in post-traumatic stress disorder(p=0,17) and anxiety symptom(p=0,21).

Conclusion: It has been determined that in individuals who were exposed to social trauma, psychodrama is effective in exposing the feelings and studying on them and on reducing the depressive symptoms. Psychiatric nurses should support the victims of social trauma to share and express feelings via psychodrama.
