Objectives: In this study; ıt was aimed to determine the effect of nursing students’ attitudes towards the profession on career adaptability and optimism.
Methods: The universe of the descriptive and cross-sectional research; all students studying in the nursing department of a state university in the Mediterranean region (N: 400). 246 students were sampled. In this study, “Personal Data Form”, “Attitude towards Nursing Profession” and “Career Future” scales were used while collecting data. Data were analyzed using the “Independent Sample-t”, “Mann-Whitney U”, “One-Way Anova” and “Kruskal-Wallis H” tests.
Results: In this study, it was determined that 65.1% of the students were female, their mean age was 21.26±2.05 years, 31.7% were in the 4th grade, and 58.6% had a medium income. 43% of the students preferred the nursing profession because of the ease of finding a job. 71.9% of them made a career plan after graduation; 95.6% stated that they want to receive career planning training. In the study, the relationship between the HMYTÖ-total score and career adaptability, career optimism, knowledge sub-dimension and KARGEL-total score was statistically significant (p<0.05).
Conclusion: It was found that professional attitude affects career optimism and career adaptability. Keywords: Nursing student, career future, career optimism, professional attitude

Giriş: Bu araştırmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin mesleğe yönelik tutumlarının kariyer uyumluluğu ile iyimserliği üzerine etkisinin belirlenmesidir.
Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki araştırmanın evrenini; Akdeniz bölgesinde bulunan bir devlet üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin tamamı oluşturmuştur (N: 400). 246 öğrenci örnekleme alınmıştır. “Kişisel Veri Formu”, “Hemşirelik Mesleğine Yönelik Tutum” ve “Kariyer Geleceği” ölçekleri ile veriler toplanmıştır. “Mann-Whitney U” “Independent Sample-t”, “Kruskal-Wallis H” ve “One-Way Anova” testleri ile analiz edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Araştırmada; öğrencilerin %65.1’inin kadın, ortalama yaşlarının 21.26±2.05 yıl, %31.7’sinin 4.sınıf ve %58.6’sının gelirinin orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin %43’ünün hemşirelik mesleğini iş bulma kolaylığından dolayı tercih ettiği, %71.9’unun mezuniyet sonrası kariyer planı yaptığı ve %95.6’sının kariyer planlama eğitimi almak istediği belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada HMYTÖ- toplam puanı ile “kariyer uyumluluğu”, “kariyer iyimserliği”, “bilgi” alt boyutları ve KARGEL- toplam puanı arasında “pozitif yönde” ve “zayıf düzeyde” bulunan ilişki istatistiksel olarak anlamlıdır (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Bu araştırmada; mesleki tutumun, kariyer iyimserliği ve kariyer uyumluluğunu etkilediği saptanmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Hemşirelik öğrencisi, kariyer geleceği, kariyer iyimserliği, mesleki tutum
