Knowledge and Perception of Nursing Students who Have Taken Basic Electrocardiography Course

Aim: The aim of the study is determine the knowledge and experience of nursing students who have taken basic ECG course
Method: The research is a mixed method descriptive study with qualitative and quantitative characteristics. The sample of study consisted of 14 nursing student who have taken basic ECG between 27-31 December 2021, which is the 14th week of the course. Foreign students who could not express themselves adequately were excluded from the study and students who were willing to participate in the study and were able to express themselves were included in the study. Data were collected via questionnaire form and semi-structured interviews and analyzed using inductive content analysis.
Results: ECG and monitoring knowledge of the students were sufficient, and five themes related to their experiences were formed.
Conclusion: It can be said that the basic ECG course is effective on nursing students and it can be suggested that this course should be included in all nursing education programs.

Temel Elektrokardiyografi Dersi Almış Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Bilgi ve Algıları

Amaç: Temel EKG dersi almış hemşirelik öğrencilerinin bilgi ve deneyimlerinin belirlenmesidir.
Yöntem: Araştırma nitel ve nicel özellikte karma tanımlayıcı bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini dersin 14. Haftası olan 27-31 Aralık 2021 tarihleri arasında Temel EKG dersi almış 14 hemşirelik öğrencisi oluşturdu. Yabancı uyruklu olan kendisinin yeterli ifade edemeyen öğrenciler çalışma dışı bırakıldı ve çalışmaya katılmaya gönüllü, kendisini ifade edebilecek durumda olan öğrenciler çalışmaya dahil edildi.
Veriler, soru formu ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplandı, içerik analizi ile analiz edildi.
Bulgular: Öğrencilerin EKG ve monitörizasyon ile ilgili bilgileri yeterliydi, deneyimlerine ilişkin ise beş tema belirlendi.
Sonuç: Temel EKG dersinin hemşirelik öğrencileri üzerinde etkin olduğu söylenebilir ve bu dersin tüm hemşirelik eğitim programlarına dâhil edilmesi önerilebilir.
