Psychosocial Approaches to Children Having Oncologic Problems and Their Family Cemile Hürrem Ayhan Balık, Sevim Buzlu Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Florence Nightingale Nursing Faculty, Department of Pscyhiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Istanbul, Turkey Cancer causing many psychological and psychosocial problems is one of the most common diseases globally and threatening the health of the individual of all age. Although survival rates for childhood cancers have increased due to progress in treatment, cancer has been the second cause of death in children between 5 and 14 years of age (after an accident). Childhood cancers not only affect the life of the child but also cause important psychosocial problems that affect the lives of the family members. This review article has been aimed to address the psychosocial problems seen in children having oncologic problem and their families and the effectiveness of psychosocial intervention directed to these problems. Tedavideki ilerlemelere bağlı olarak çocukluk çağı kanserleri için sağ kalım oranlarının yükselmesine rağmen, kanser, 5-14 yaş arası çocuklarda ikinci sırada ölüm nedeni (kaza sonrasında) olmuştur. Çocukluk çağı kanserleri sadece çocuğun yaşamını etkilemekle kalmayıp aile bireylerinin yaşamını da etkileyen önemli psikososyal sorunlara yol açmaktadır. Bu derleme makalede onkolojik problemi olan çocuk ve ailelerinde görülen psikososyal sorunlar ve bu sorunlara yönelik psikososyal girişimlerin etkinliğinin ele alınması amaçlanmıştır.
